2026 NANTUCKET RACE WEEK
UPDATED WEBSITE COMING IN JANUARY
Nantucket Race Week will kick off next August for its 23rd year. The week begins on August 6th with the two-day Youth Regatta, sailed in Club 420s and Opti prams, and culminates on Sunday, August 16th with the 54th Opera House Cup race. In between, the days are packed with great competition and revelry.
Nantucket Race Week is a celebration of sailing, hosted by the Nantucket Yacht Club and the Great Harbor Yacht Club and benefitting Nantucket Community Sailing
Racing is staged across Nantucket's two picturesque venues: the Island's 6-mile long harbor and the wide-open Nantucket Sound. Each is distinctive for its unique qualities: The harbor for its tricky currents and treacherous shoals, and the Sound for its blue-water sailing and steady sea-breeze.

Racing is held in boats ranging from the petite Opti to the grande dames of yore, like the majestic J-Boats, elegant schooners and the fabled 12-Metres. The Island's robust one-design fleets include classic designs from the 1920s and 30's – like the Alden-designed Nantucket Indian and International One Design as well as modern sport boats like the Melges15 and J/70.
Nantucket Race Week isn't just about the competition. The week features an array of land-based events to keep the sailors entertained deep into the evenings. While ashore, visiting yachtsmen can sample the Island's wide variety of great restaurants and shops and non-sailors can enjoy lazy days on one of Nantucket's 360-degrees of pristine beaches.
Please check back in mid-January, when we'll be launching our new website. Registration for most events will open in March 2026.
