There are many ways that you can help Nantucket Community Sailing. Here are a few of our needs for 2008:

• High School and Summer Sailing Teams – Support our local Whaler’s sailing team with new/repaired drysuits; enable participation in more regattas with a 420 stackable trailer; help us replace our 420 sails

• Jetties Sailing Center – The Rhodes 19s, Marshall 15s and Lasers need new sails and rigging; We could rent additional kayaks if we had them; we could use a hard-bottom inflatable for assistance/rescues out on the water and for race management; we’d like to install a semi-permanent tent for better weather protection of our equipment and staff; and last but not least, we’d love to bring back our J-24 keelboat program

• Youth Sailing Program – Help fund scholarships so that Nantucket youth can learn to sail; replace our Hunter 140 and Optimist sails; provide VHF radios for the instructors

• Housing – we need summer housing for our instructors. We would especially appreciate the use of a small cottage or two.

• Alan I. Newhouse Boathouse –Thanks to the Great Harbor Yacht Club, we have a new maintenance facility for our boats and equipment. It’s wonderful, but somewhat empty. Our needs include office equipment, tools, boat racks, general maintenance equipment, and supplies.

• Equipment Repair – We can always use help to repair our equipment – from carpentry to painting to replacing sails to moving boats.

• Event volunteers – We have a series of events coming up this summer, and need volunteers to help us, from planning the events, to coordinating vendors and supplies, to working at the event.

• Office assistance – Help us update our website, create a new brochure, stuff envelopes for a mailing. Our office is very busy during the summer and we could use the extra help!
