NANTUCKET RACE WEEK INDIVIDUAL SPONSORSHIPS

You and your family are invited to join us for one of the highlights of Nantucket's summer season: Nantucket Race Week 2008. Hosted by the Nantucket and Great Harbor Yacht Clubs, this sailing extravaganza takes place from August 8^th to August 17^th.  It brings together sailors of all ages and boats of all sizes for nine days of racing and social events, culminating in the classic wooden sailboat race, the 36^th annual Opera House Cup Regatta and its famous awards party on the beach.

This year we are honored to have Gary Jobson once again as our honorary chairman.    In addition, we are proud to host some of the best Olympic and world-class sailors for the IOD Celebrity Invitational Regatta.  All Nantucket Race Week participants and sponsors will have the opportunity to mingle with the pros and other sailors at the Sailor's Dinner on Thursday night at the Nantucket Yacht Club.  Other race events during the week include the Youth and Laser Regattas, the Team Races, the local One Design Series, the majestic 12 Metre Regatta, and the Sail Nantucket Regatta.

Race Week offers a wonderful array of social events for the whole family including a lively opening reception, a family barbeque, free sailing for your family at Nantucket  Community Sailing's facilities on Jetties Beach, a wonderful sponsorship party, the fabulous Shipwreck Ball, and of course, the Opera  House Cup awards festivities. 

Nantucket Race Week is the primary fundraiser for Nantucket Community Sailing (NCS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with two principal goals: sailing education for children and water sports access for the public.  Last year, NCS served over 3000 water sport enthusiasts, providing financial assistance to 85% of Nantucket's young sailors.  In order to keep its sailing programs affordable and provide meaningful scholarships, Nantucket Community Sailing depends on your generosity and the events of Nantucket Race Week to raise a large portion of its operating funds.

Shipwreck Ball Friday, August 15	Costume party. Theme-"dress for distress".  Live band and light buffet. Nantucket Yacht Club, 1 South Beach Street.  7:30-midnight.  Dress:  costume encouraged or cocktail.
Sponsor Party Saturday, August 16	Cocktails and live music at "Duneover", 77 Hulbert Avenue.  6-8 pm.  Dress:  sport jacket.
Arabella, VIP spectator boat Opera House Cup Regatta Sunday, August 17	Arabella is a restored 160' classic three-masted staysail schooner.  Air conditioned. Refreshments and box lunch provided.  Launch from Town Pier leaves 9:30am.   Returns at end of race (3:00pm).   Dress:  boat appropriate.
Opera House Cup Awards Party Sunday, August 17	OHC awards ceremony, buffet dinner, dancing and silent auction.   Under the tents at Jetties Beach.  6-10pm.  Dress:  casual.
