NCS COVID-19 UPDATE
March 27, 2020

Dear NCS Friends,

We are reaching out to let you know what we are doing in the midst of the COVID-19 emergency. First, as you probably know, the first cases of COVID-19 appeared on Nantucket this week, and the island is in shelter-at-home mode, trying not to spread the coronavirus and overtax our limited health care resources. The NCS team is working from home. We are not making decisions that we don't have to make.

While we are hoping and will be prepared to run sailing programs and Nantucket Race Week/Opera House Cup this summer, those decisions will be driven by public health recommendations regarding the coronavirus and its impact on the island of Nantucket. Over the past couple weeks we have been working hard to develop contingency plans to mitigate any organizational and financial challenges and ensure NCS's continuation for the future. NCS is thinly capitalized and depends on the generosity of our donors and the success of Nantucket Race Week/Opera House Cup to cover the costs of our sailing programs each year. In the short term, we are following best practices for our employees' safety and evaluating all possible options, including exploring potential federal and state funding programs while increasing organizational efficiencies.

We will continue to communicate with you as our plans crystallize. In the meantime, do not hesitate to email us at info@nantucketcommunitysailing.org if you have questions.

Our best wishes to you and your family for good health,

Diana Brown, Chief Executive

Harry Rein, President of the NCS Board of Directors
